In an ever-changing world, there is no shame in admitting when you get stuck. Although though your legs and responsibilities propel you forward with the passing time, mentally you remain in a negative, nervous state. From an outsider’s perspective you may appear to have things under control; but mentally, you are stagnant, overwhelmed, or consumed by negative thoughts. Though these times often feel never ending, Samantha Knight is here to help you gain a deeper understanding of where you may have gotten stuck and the individualized skills to get you through some of life’s most challenging times presently and going forward. From the daily stressors to severe and persistent concerns, she would like to assist in you regaining control over your thoughts, actions, and overall mental health.
Samantha is an experienced mental health counselor with a passion for working with individuals, groups, families, and relationships. She has over six years of experience working with a wide variety of populations such as intellectual/developmental disabilities, Autism, severe and persistent mental illnesses, behavior modification, life transitions, depression, anxiety, comorbidity, trauma, as well as men’s and women’s issues. She also has experience working across a variety of environments such as the home (residential), day treatment facilities, higher education, non-profit, and outpatient private practice.
Samantha focuses on creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for clients during sessions where clients can freely express themselves without the fear of judgement or disapproval. Her goal is to help clients to work through their struggles and transform themselves into stronger, more self-aware people who can confidently achieve their goals. She works under a cognitive behavioral, strengths-based, solution-focused approach to therapy where a client can better identify negative/irrational thoughts while gaining some tools to assist with the “right now” concerns. Samantha believes in treating clients through a holistic and existential approach where the client is treated as a person experiencing difficulties but is not measured by their problems.
