About Jonathan Bellin, LCSW

Life can be tough. We all face challenges that are unique. Sometimes we feel that nobody can understand us and we are alone. It is this feeling – the feeling of being understood – that is the center of the therapeutic experience. Feeling understood heals us, supports us, enlivens us. Jonathan has been working in social work for 27 years with people from all walks of life. Black and white, rich and poor, young and old, all people want to have a place they can go to feel understood and feel less lonely, that someone cares. The most important skill to look for in a therapist is the skill of listening. It is not what Jonathan will say that will help you as much as what he will not say. Together he will work with you to understand and help see your strengths and abilities and resilience. You will learn to know yourself in a way that will open doors for you and give you choices that you never knew existed.

Jonathan has worked with people carrying almost every diagnosis – stress, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, self-harm, suicidal behavior, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders. He utilizes discussion, relaxation skills, meditation, humor, and most of all mutual respect, understanding, and the healing powers of a healthy human relationship.
