About Iesha Whitaker, LCSW

Iesha's main areas of focus are individuals that suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Trauma, PTSD clients dealing with Life transitions. She has worked with clients that from experience with Substance Abuse Disorders, Chronic Homelessness, Domestic Violence as well as clients that have CDPAP and CSPOA needs.

Iesha has been in the field since 2009 and has experience in several modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Supportive Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, Strength-based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy.

Other highlights of her experience are working in OMH and DHS mental health clinics, hospital settings, which consisted of inpatient units, emergency room care and discharge planning. Iesha has also worked in Day Treatment Programs, Supportive Housing, Group Therapy and worked closely with scheduling client events. She is passionate about helping clients of minority backgrounds that suffer from mental illness and face disadvantages and generational poverty. Iesha also has a passion for working with the youth, pre-teens-teenagers navigating through junior high school, high school, the college years, and transition into adulthood. Iesha enjoys collaborating with women on specific women’s issues and adversities.

Iesha obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with a Minor in African and Latino Studies at Hunter College in New York City in 2005. She returned to graduate school in 2009-2011 and obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Hunter College School of Social Work.
