Gwendolyn Blackett-Sullivan is a New York State licensed mental health counselor. She has experience treating children, teenagers, adults, families and couples. She has expertise in the areas of trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) she is trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) as well as working with couples utilizing the John and Julie Gottman’s curriculum. Ms. Blackett-Sullivan specializes in substance abuse, grief, sexual assault, PTSD, domestic violence and works with diverse mental health populations. She has supported families dealing with crisis intervention, dealing with disabilities and trauma. She utilizes various evidenced based and client centered approaches with the aim of facilitating growth, healing, change and teaches coping skills. Gwen graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice of The City University of New York with a Master’s degree in forensic psychology and from Herbert H. Lehman College of The City of New York with a Master’s degree in special education. Gwen is certified in the state of New York as a teacher of both elementary and special education .She is also certified as an educational administrator on both the school and district levels. Gwen completed a post Masters advanced certification in clinical mental health counseling from Medaille College in Buffalo New York, and completed a post master’s educational administration licensure program at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams.
